While working on STOL aircraft (Short Takeoff and Landing), Courtney Hunter came up with the idea for a removable leading edge modification and assembly. In 2010, the first complete proof of concept prototype was produced for the Cessna 208 Caravan, a utility aircraft. After Kevin Marks joined the team and a revelation of the technology’s applicability to wind turbine blades, the team decided to change its primary focus to the renewable energy market. With computer models and research data supporting the turbine’s improved performance, the team is currently carrying out scale model development and working towards pilot testing.
